Staying afloat

Hello dear friends!

Despite your wonderfully encouraging and much appreciated comments on my last post I still couldn't get it together to post again until now. Depression has stuck again and any of you out there who wrestle with that particular beast will know how debilitating it can be. Odd that the last time I was in such a dark place blogging really helped...this time I haven't been able to get interested in anything much. But I have really (and I mean really) missed being part of the Canyon Ladies and have decided that even if my posts are teeny weeny and bland, it is better for me to post than to not. I sometimes think I set myself up to fail by thinking that I have to post something super-interesting and wonderful, full of all the amazing things I have been making. Well it doesn't always work out like that and if I wait for that to happen I might never post again! Then I feel guilty for not posting and so I stop visiting all you lovely, talented people because it reminds me that I am not making gorgeous things and posting about them. And then I feel like a failure. And so it goes on. So this is me saying Hello!, still here and waving not drowning.

Have a lovely week xxx

  1. I am so glad that the clouds have parted enough for you to make it back and say hello. You have posted something wonderful, you have slowly put one foot in front of the other day after day until you could see that chink of light that heralds the healing. It is really lovely to hear from you. xxx

  2. Hang in there! I'm no stranger to what you're going through myself and I know how hard it can be when you're so close to rock bottom. Having said that, I also know that it is possible to climb up out of that darkness, into the light.
So keep doing what you do, make yourself happy by doing whatever makes you happy and hang on!
    xo,

  3. So good to hear from you Andrea.
I think we can all fall into the trap of thinking our blog needs to be more exciting and when your not feeling great you don't need this pressure.
I hope you can find time to post and keep in touch.

  4. I always enjoy your blog so it's good to hear from you again. I don't have experience of depression, but I am going through my own blogging 'slump' at the moment, so I understand what you mean about the vicious circle of not blogging because you feel like you haven't got anything exciting to say, and then not blogging because you haven't written anything for ages! And then you forget about all the things you have been up to, so you still feel like you'll have nothing to write about! Blogging is a funny old thing sometimes!

Anyway, great to hear from you again - keep waving!! xx

  7. Not a regular to your blog, but will be. My heart goes out to you. Just take life at your own pace and don't worry about what folk might think. The most important person is you and you need to look after yourself. The rest has a knack of just falling in around you.

    From a fellow sufferer.

  8. So nice to hear from you again, just use this space in whatever way works for you. Your blog has provided me with so much inspiration in the couple of years I've been dipping in and out of blogland. Doesn't matter if you have crafty things to show or not - its people's personalities and characters that jump out through what they write. Try to keep finding the little things, I have to remind myself on a pretty much daily basis, but there is usually something to find some good in each day. Hope you get to a happier place soon xx
