On the go - Jemimah blanket

Good morning dear ladies

The sun is shining here in my part of Yorkshire and, whilst it is cooler than recently, it is a lovely bright day.

I thought you might like to see what I am currently working on. While making granny squares for Hawthorn's project I realised that I have never made a granny square blanket! I still had quite a stash of Stylecraft left over from previous blankets so I decided to make another one for my new niece. It will be bigger than the other blankets I have made her. I want this one to be a 'snuggy' (as my son calls them), that is a large, cuddly blanket for snuggling into for story times and cuddling. This is it so far....

I am really enjoying making this blanket. Each square (there will be nine) is made up of 19 granny rows and each has its own character, despite using the same colours. I have been hooking in the sunshine and admiring the lovely colours of the squares...

It is incredibly fast so I should be finished it soon.

Thank you so much for the kind and reassuring comments you left on my last post. I think the stress of returning to work after so long away is getting to me. I go back in two weeks and although I no longer feel depressed, I am very sad about going back to work. I have so loved being a stay at home mum, having more time with my little son, crafting and cleaning and enjoying my house and garden. Still, it has to be done so I just need to get on with it. My sister recommended this book.....

It is about how to get your mojo back using nutrition; about how what we eat has dramatic effects on our moods, our energy levels and our happiness. It arrived today and I will start it tonight. I'll let you know how I get on!

I hope the sun is shining on you today. Much love xxxx

  4. That snuggy looks just the ticket. Sounds as if you could do with one yourself at the moment. I really hope that the book helps you feel more confident - yes diet does affect us more than we imagine. Let me know if it works.

Take one day at a time - be kind to yourself. I do wish we were nearer, sometimes a cup of tea and a chat can lift your spirits.

You are such a lovely lady.

    A big hug.

  5. Gorgeous blanket!

Bah humbug to depression! Fight it off with a stick, and if that doesn't work I'll come up and strangle the bleeding thing away. Strangle depression that is, not you, I wouldn't strangle you!!! Your readers may think I sound flippant but I know you know I am in the same boat as you. That's me, over t'other end waving bravely at you with my stick. Like you I am well at the moment but I hate the feeling that something shifting my cozy life out of balance will bring me to my knees again. I'm guessing you feel that way with work looming. I think just having something like a book to believe in helps. It's like a crutch, a support. "I'm ok because I am doing this diet". It will lend a bolster to your inner strength. You'll be ok, you'll be low, you'll be high but you'll weather the storm and you WILL have some great times riding those waves (how many metaphors can I jam in one comment box???!)

    much love to you, xxx

  18. Andrea, the blanket is lovely. The colours are so pretty, and you put them together so well. You can't beat a bit of hooking in the sunshine! I well understand you being sad at going back to work, but keep in your mind and heart that you have had some lovely times at home with your son, and you and he won't forget them. They will be your foundation for the future. And there will be lots more times together to come.
